Neal Sternecky did most of the actual drawing in the Animaniacs series through #7, and all of the covers through #6. He is the only artist to have drawn Slappy and Skippy Squirrel, and his Pinky and the Brain were the standard until Walter Carzon came along. His depiction of the Warners is easily better than a lot of the animation in the cartoons, and was considered the standard for the comics for the first few issues, though John Costanza and Kelly Jarvis are working hard to take over that role. He has committed the occasional technical error, but many fewer than George Wildman. The biggest fault with his Warners are the eyes, which tend to be drawn as half-ovals with pronounced eyelids that are drawn as one line. On the other hand, his drawing of their bodies is more fluid than anyone else, and he depends much less on standard poses. He also makes extensive use of silhouettes in his stories, alone among the artists. His drawing style, overall, appears to most closely follow the cartoons animated by Startoons - which makes sense, since he's credited in at least one show as working for them.

Sternecky has moved up in the world; he's credited in the third season Animaniacs TV series as a storyboard artist. This has left him little time to work on the comic, though he is still doing some art for the series.
